It's
the passion Phil has for great Latin music that influenced him
when he was cute. He's still cute. And I do share his passion
for the Latin classics we recreated for this album. And I've had
a great time collaborating with him.
The album evolved as we worked on it. I now think of it as a
romantic 'Latin-Doo Wop-Dance' album sung in two languages. It
contains an old sounding new song called "ONLY IN MY DREAMS" which
I at first wrote with the idea of getting it into the upcoming
"Tom Hanks" film. Somehow it wound up on this album.
It contains a new sounding old song called "GREEN PLANT", a song which
seems to have a life of its own. We made a very strange recording of it
in the '60s which was released on the old B.T. Puppy label. The new version
is hot.
We also re-recorded "SWING". Phil and I were never really happy with our first
attempt at a Latin feel on the original '60s version. Thirty years
later I think we finally got it right.
